Hotel Byblos Saint-Tropez

Hotel Byblos in Saint-Tropez doesn’t feel like a true luxury property to me, mainly because of its rigid arrival and departure times. Check-in is 4:00 pm and checkout is 11:00 am. At proper 5-star hotels elsewhere, it’s usually 3:00 pm and 12:00 pm. Here, after you ask, they may let you in at 3:00 or extend checkout to 12:00, presenting it as a favor, even though those are standard industry times. The particularly unreasonable part is that they refuse even a 30-minute extension to 12:30, despite rooms costing several thousand euros per night. In every other real luxury hotel I’ve stayed at, an extra half hour or even an hour has never been an issue, even with the next guest arriving at 3:00 pm. Byblos doesn’t check people in until 4:00 pm, so this inflexible approach feels especially poor and makes guests seem unimportant. It wasn’t always like this. In earlier years, basic requests were handled with more common sense. I’ve heard management changed recently, and things clearly seem to have declined under the new leadership.

The pool is cozy, the rooms are really beautiful, and we love having breakfast by the pool. We’ve been spending our vacations at Hotel Byblos in Saint Tropez for years, and always get great service from a perfect, super friendly staff. It’s a unique place, and we keep coming back each year.

Our room had just been renovated, and the location was great, only a short walk from the shopping area. Great hotel and service too.

Man, I was in the Missoni room with Drake. It was an extortionary stay, let me tell you. We smoked a fat cigar while Drake was producing a song called "Middle of the Ocean." The hospitality was great, and the staff were excellent.
