The toilet wouldn't flush for an entire afternoon, and anyone over 1.70m has to duck to get into the tiny 1.50m² toilet with its square bowl. The shower is in the master bedroom, with a 5 cm gap under the outside-facing bedroom door, and on October 2nd it was 15 degrees Celsius at night. There was no heating anywhere in the "accommodation". The bed was awful, basically just the bed frame, and the kitchen lacked basics like salt, pepper, and oil. The insulation and renovations look badly done, with crooked doors upstairs and a crooked bathroom wall. The ping-pong table mentioned in the ad is falling apart, its net is coming apart, and the ball bounces all over. After I told my wife we'd slept badly and been cold, she said, "It's a dovecote, sir!" Steer clear, and don't give these people money if you care about comfort.

The owner's welcome was warm, and the work on the dovecote is considerable given the ruins it started from. Still, don't be misled, it's not an outbuilding of the castle. The place itself was pleasant, although the weather kept us from using the garden, and the facilities and layout were adequate. There were a few issues. The bedrooms are upstairs, while the toilets are downstairs and require going outside to reach. The shower is in the main bedroom, and I recall that the door was awkward to open or close while someone was showering. The duvets looked and smelled as if they hadn't been washed. We saw no signs of bedbugs, but bedding should be clean out of respect for guests, especially with that risk around. Also, one glass block in the bathroom wall seemed loose and might fall.

The kids could use the trampoline, and the hosts were friendly but discreet, even living right next door. We only booked one night with the children and soon wished we'd stayed for two. It's a peaceful, unusual place. WOULD DO AGAIN!

The scenery was nice, but the room had no heating, there was a musty smell in the fridge, and the front desk staff were rather unpleasant. We were there for a two-day family break. I wouldn't recommend it.
