Be On The Beach

Be On the Beach was a fantastic fit for a beach lover working remotely. I stayed for two months, March-April, and felt right at home in the spacious, fully furnished studio, just steps from a swim in warm turquoise water during work breaks. The kitchen table by the window was a great place to work while looking out at the beach. It’s a peaceful spot away from the crowds, but I could still walk downtown for food and to visit Plage du Bourg. A bus stops at the property entrance, and there’s plenty of parking if you have a car. There’s a fruit stand and a japanese restaurant across the street. I loved the coconut trees around the property, and had fun gathering coconuts and bowling with them. If you’re concerned about falling coconuts, it’s easy to walk around the trees. The studio had what I needed for a long stay: fast Starlink wifi, AC, kitchen, couch, TV, bed, ironing board, safe, alarm system, closet, outdoor furniture, and room to move and stretch. There was an indoor shower with hot water and good pressure, plus an outdoor one for rinsing off sand. They brought an extra pillow and rug when I asked. The one thing I missed was an oven for baking, though there are several bakeries nearby. Wifi was fast enough for work, but my phone and TV disconnected every ten minutes or so. My laptop stayed connected throughout, and using an HDMI cable to connect it to the TV made watching Netflix easier. The staff were friendly and responsive during problems, including an internet interruption and a power cut one night. Larissa was my main contact, replied to all my WhatsApp texts, and came by weekly to change sheets and towels. At the end of April, sargassum seaweed really clogged the beach. The owner can’t do much about it, and the fence in the ocean meant to keep it out didn’t work. The seaweed still washed up on shore.
