The main drawback was the Wi-Fi: Booking.com said it was available, but I couldn’t find any. I don’t blame the hotel, but it’s useful to know. The owner was very kind and patient while we worked out how to communicate, since I don’t speak French and she doesn’t speak English. The air conditioning worked very well, and after boat life, having hot water was a relief. I was pleasantly surprised by the full kitchen and its pots and pans, plus the fridge-freezer and microwave. The marche is a short walk away, as are wooded coastal trails and beaches. I’d suggest walking well beyond the anchorage, since boats empty their sewage holding tanks there and you don’t want to swim in it, though most people do. The view of St. Anne, the church, and the hill with its scenic walk through the 12 commandments garden was charming.
It was all very uncomplicated. I booked at the last minute in the middle of high season, just walked in to ask if there was a room, and wasn’t bothered with paperwork. The lady, presumably the owner, speaks no English but was very nice and tried to help. The room was kind of clean, borderline okay, though not northern European standard, I guess that’s Caribbean life. The bed was big enough for two, but the furniture is pretty worn, with doors and handles literally falling apart. I was alone, so unfortunately it felt severely overpriced. The place is a back room of a second-hand clothing shop right in the center of Ste Anne, which I found charming. Shops, beach, scuba diving spots, and marina are right outside.
The place wasn’t cleaned before we arrived, and it was very poor value for money. I can’t recommend this hotel.
What a shame. The location isn’t too bad, but the room service is awful. They don’t clean, replace the towels every two days, or leave toilet paper every two days, even though this is included in the price. Avoid this place.
For our 20th wedding anniversary, Jonathan surprised us with flowers and a bottle of champagne. He also pointed us to some great restaurants for New Year’s Eve, and his advice was invaluable. The studio was pleasant and functional, with a terrace looking onto a lush garden. We had a wonderful stay and can’t wait to return. Thank you!
