Apartment Near Town in Sainte Foy

The staff were good and it was easy to get onto the slopes, but that’s about where the positives end. We’ve just returned from our second visit to CGH, and this is a very basic residence. The rooms are dated, so if you’re looking for luxury, this isn’t the place. After skiing we wanted a hot shower and a comfortable sofa, but the showers were cramped and pathetic, and the sofa was just a wooden bench with a cushion. We spent a day at the indoor heated pool, which was freezing. The locker keys were rusted and broken, if you could find a locker with a key at all. The complimentary Wi-Fi was nonexistent, so we had to spend a fortune on 4G data. Switching off can be nice, but in 2024 we still need Wi-Fi sometimes.

The apartments were cramped and very tired, nothing like the photos used to advertise them. Getting around was a slog because the complex has several buildings linked by long corridors. The boot room and reception were quite a trek, and reception was locked up and unmanned in the evening. Don’t be tempted by the hot tub and pool pictures. The pool was too cold to enjoy, and the hot tub was drained for our entire stay. There was a sign saying it was due to sanitation issues, which looked very much like an excuse. Signs everywhere suggested under 16s were unwelcome. The staff were rude and disinterested, and looked like they weren’t enjoying themselves. Sainte-Foy is very much a family-friendly resort, so this place stinks. I wouldn’t dream of going near it again.

Daily bread deliveries were a blessing, and the staff have been great since we arrived. They made sure our apartment was ready and even took our late bread orders. We stayed for a week as a family of four in an apartment type E. It had two toilets and showers, plus a well equipped kitchen with a dishwasher. The apartments are great, very close to the main square, ski school, and lifts. Facilities include dedicated lockers by the pool and in the ski boot changing rooms.

The apartments are too small for their stated capacity, and the layout makes no sense. Things break from time to time, too. The spa feels outdated, and the Jacuzzi is only 30 degrees warm. Wi-Fi doesn’t work in the apartments, and you have to go to the hall, where it still doesn’t work. The hall is closed from 11 am to 4 pm. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Look elsewhere.
