La Ferme d'Agathe

The Wi-Fi didn't work, and our room wasn't cleaned during the three days we were there. There was occasionally a faint smell from the septic tank too. The room itself was spacious and practical, with a tidy bathroom, toilet, shower, hairdryer, and a 50 cl bottle of water. The tiled floor gets cold, especially in winter, so slippers would help. The place was quiet despite being close to the road, though the motion-sensor lights by the entrance and rooms only stayed on for five seconds, which made it feel like you were being watched. It's a bed and breakfast run quite strictly by an elderly gentleman. Heating was turned off remotely every night from 11:00 PM until 6:30 AM, including the Acova unit in the bathroom. In winter, the room can fall to 5 or 10 degrees Celsius. There's a small electric fan heater, but it's very noisy, so bring earplugs and use the blankets provided, or bring sleeping bags. Breakfast is between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM: hot chocolate, tea or coffee, orange juice, a croissant, bread, butter, jam, and yogurt. Be there exactly at your chosen time, or you might be asked for a small favor. Check-out is by 10:00 AM, with no exceptions.

The photos give the wrong impression. We were put in a different upstairs room instead of Agathe's, and the bathroom in the house wasn't private to our room. The bedding was very uncomfortable, the furniture and sheets didn't match, and the room was really dirty and hadn't been cleaned. A very disappointing bed and breakfast.

Bertrand and his partner are lovely, welcoming hosts who are always around to point you toward good places in the region. Bertrand's jokes and stories are a real treat. A spot I'd recommend if you like simple, warm interactions! Mr Henry 😉

Getting there from the motorway is easy, and the garden is lovely and well cared for. The rooms have character, a nice change from the sterile feel of big chains. The managers are especially warm and friendly, which makes the service exceptional. Breakfast was very, very good.
