Les Bains Gardians

We stayed in a beautiful setting, surrounded by nature, with a river running alongside the whole hotel. The rooms felt cozy and were well cleaned, and we really enjoyed the food. Service was a little slow, but nothing dramatic. An amazing experience.

Julien, the hotel director, went far beyond what I expected when I got a flat tire a few miles away on the way in at night. Everything was closed and my insurance company wasn’t answering. He came to pick us up, took us to the hotel, then went back to deal with the tow truck. The next day he found what seemed to be a very rare tire through his contacts and sent Thomas to collect it. He handed me back a fully fixed car. I’ve never had service like that in France. Everyone was lovely and so friendly. The place itself is magical. The Camargue countryside is breathtaking, and the sunsets are out of this world. The beach is five minutes away, and the atmosphere feels authentic, without the show-off competition you get in other parts of the south of France. The rooms are super comfortable, the kind of beds that make you feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud. There’s a great vibe at the bar and restaurant, with a top DJ, the infamous Arnaud Clemente from Ibiza, but it isn’t too loud to talk with your partner. It’s also very kid friendly. My kids had the best time and could get around the traffic-free property by themselves, going from one pool to another. I couldn’t be happier with our holiday at Les Bains Gardians. Couldn’t recommend it more!

Horseback riding was the main reason I wanted to go to Camargue, and it was on my bucket list. I’d paid 230 euros for a reservation, then changed my train and hotel to fit their schedule, spending another 500 euros. In the end they cancelled because the guide was injured, and they only had one guide. They refunded me, but I was completely disappointed. Unbelievable, and not professional.

We came at night, and with so little lighting it was tricky to find our way around the large property to our room and the restaurant. The staff offered us a ride in the golf cart, but we turned it down. At breakfast, there was quite a bit of road and highway noise, and our room smelled a little damp. Still, if you’re there for horseback riding or to be close to nature, it’s a decent spot. The hotel sits in nature, with lovely lakes and horses onsite. We especially liked the restaurant, the service and the quality of the food, and there were lots of English-speaking staff. We did find the spa a little overpriced: €225 for two to privatise a small cabane for 1h45m, with a small jacuzzi, sauna and two 30-minute massages. At a similar rate of €300+ per room per night, we’ve had better spas in the area, including ones with free-to-use facilities you could come and go from. The way they presented the privatisation felt like a way to market a small spa that couldn’t fit more than two guests.
