Camping Le Sainte Marie

We came away with lovely family memories. Evenings at La Boussole were a highlight, with live music, cabaret, karaoke, foam parties, and bingo. It was lively, but things didn’t go on too late. The food was excellent too, especially the rotisserie chicken, and both the cocktails and service were first-rate. The kids were especially taken with the heated pools, slides, splash areas, and the little animal farm. They loved the ponies and goats, and the pigs most of all. Staff were warm and welcoming from the start, even though we’re an English family with only basic French. I’ve promised myself I’ll improve before next time. There’s plenty to explore nearby, including Perpignan and the beautiful Mediterranean beaches. The campsite has the spacious shaded pitches, modern water park, comfortable Diamond Mobile Homes, strong air conditioning, sports, activities, and good food you’d expect at a big chain site. Somehow it also has the personal feel of a smaller, family-run place. The air conditioning was a lifesaver in the summer heat. We’d happily recommend it to anyone after that kind of combination.

We hired canoes to reach the beach by river, and the canoe hire guy was really friendly and helpful. He even helped us get our crazy dog into the canoe. You can also take a small ferry boat along the river to the beach, or walk about 15 minutes to a fantastic, quiet stretch of sand. Most pitches are shaded by pine trees, and there’s a small camp shop. The pool and aqua park were great for the kids. If you can choose a pitch, the perimeter ones are less busy.

This was a clean little campsite with all the amenities we needed and lots of family activities. The nearby local beach is within reach, though it has fewer restaurants. The main beaches are too far to walk to, so I’d recommend having a car to get around.

We’ve stayed here three years in a row and are coming back next year. It’s a good-sized, peaceful site with everything you need, without feeling crowded. The kids love it, and we’re comfortable giving them plenty of freedom. Staff are friendly, service is great, and the toilet and shower blocks are always clean. The pool is a hit with everyone, especially the diving board and night swim. The shop is small, but there are plenty of local places close by, including a butcher, bakery, supermarket, and pharmacy. The beaches nearby are lovely. My brother and his family came with us this year, and they’re looking forward to next year just as much as we are.
