The thing that finally made us leave was a huge cockroach in our room on the first evening, just as we were going to bed. I know it's the tropics and that can happen, though it was the only one we saw during our two-week stay. Since we'd been told to call if we needed anything, I phoned the owner at about 10 pm to ask for bug spray, which is often used and makes them easier to kill. I apologized and explained in French, but he rudely said this was the tropics and hung up. We booked another hotel the next day, packed up, and left before breakfast. When my boyfriend told the hostess, she took the key without seeming surprised or asking why we were checking out days early. We never got a refund. I hope nobody else gets caught by this overpriced, weird, rude hotel. Book somewhere else. We stayed here in 2022, and the experience was so bad that this is the first time in my life I've ever left a hotel. I couldn't let it go, so I decided to warn others. It was a bit hard to find, but the first impression was good: there was a nice pool, and the hostess was friendly and told us to call if we needed anything. Then we found out the room couldn't be locked. The hostess seemed surprised that we minded, but we had passports and a laptop that we'd normally leave in the room during the day, and locking the door at night helps us feel safe. I'd never stayed anywhere before where you couldn't lock the door. The whole place also had a strange atmosphere. The room looked messy and thrown together with old secondhand stuff, there was a weird garage party area, and you could see the messy room where the owners lived. We tried to give it a chance since it's a family hotel, but there were problems hidden from the photos too, like holes in the walls and old, chipped closets. It badly needs renovation, although the room was clean enough overall.
