Hotel Martinengo

The rooms are simple but clean, and you can walk to Saint Maxime from this quaint hotel. The Italian family who run it have filled the place with Italian and Roman artifacts, so it feels a bit like an open-air museum. There isn't any breakfast.

We'd stay here again. For this area, the value is pretty good, and the owner is friendly and doesn't hike prices at the last minute like some other hotels. It's about a 750m walk into the centre of St Maxine, with a beach just across the road. The family-run hotel is around 10 minutes from Saint-Tropez. It has free WiFi, air conditioning, comfortable king beds, spacious rooms, a good ocean view, large bathrooms, a quiet setting, plenty of parking, and a minibar.

The owner made us feel very welcome and provided coffee-making facilities and a few snacks. It's a great hotel at a very good price, about a 10-minute walk from the centre, with free parking on site.

The furniture and equipment look about 50 years old. It's noisy from the air conditioning and fridge, and the hotel is opposite the main road. The city centre is a 1.5km walk. I'd give it three stars at most, not four.
