Les Lodges de Sainte-Suzanne

Well worth taking the time to visit this village.

Really nice.

We came away with fond memories, even though a few things could have been better. The lodges are very well placed, and the view of the castle is exceptional. They're fairly well equipped too, with a dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, kettle and microwave. Bring dishwasher tablets. A hairdryer would be a welcome extra. The bedding was the main problem for us. We had back pain for the whole stay. Cleanliness was reasonable but not thorough. I got the impression guests handle the end-of-stay cleaning, without a deeper clean from staff. There also isn't much for children to play on. The indoor play area was in a terrible state, and a large playground or bouncy castle would be useful.

There’s a lot going for the property: it’s peaceful, has a pool and small cottages, and the lodges are close to the medieval town of St-Suzanne. But the hygiene needs work. We found stains in the bathroom and dirt in the bed. At nearly €400 for two nights in two lodges, we expected a better level of cleanliness.
