Cabanon de Camille

Just steps from the beach and shops, this charming, clean, peaceful place has a lovely terrace and garden. The owner and staff are delightful, attentive to our well-being, and full of useful advice. We hope to be back very soon.

We booked through a private tour operator and expected high-quality accommodation with a nice outdoor seating area and breakfast served there. Instead, breakfast was at the neighboring Hotel Neptun. We called several times to arrange a 4:00 p.m. arrival, but after ringing the bell we still waited until 4:30 for the owner. The room wasn’t ready despite our booking, and we couldn’t get in until 5:30. The path to the room was filthy, and the promised outdoor seating area was unusable because hundreds of mosquitoes were buzzing around. The cushions were covered in cat hair, and dried-out plants had left standing water that attracted more mosquitoes. The bed was made, but the floor was so dirty that one walk across it left our feet black. A closet marked private held the owner’s old belongings, so there was no wardrobe, just a clothes rack with four hangers. The bathroom also had an old, completely rusted refrigerator. It was a disaster. We had booked for five days but quickly arranged alternative accommodation. Since that hotel wasn’t available until the following day, we left after one night. The owner seemed concerned only that we wouldn’t get our money back. The online photos make the place look nice, but reality is very different. The owner was also very unfriendly, and we felt ripped off. We can’t recommend this accommodation at all and would warn anyone thinking of booking it.

At first, we thought we’d been scammed: the sign said "Cabanon de Camille," but all the lights were off and nobody was there. A local man told us to go to the "Neptune" hotel, where a very kind woman put us at ease even though she didn’t speak our language. The room was nice overall, but the entrance door, outside garden, outdoor lighting, and shower all need maintenance. €145 felt a bit steep for the room.

The room itself was clean and nice, but the owner's welcome was extremely unpleasant. She acted in bad faith and claimed I’d hidden my dog when I arrived, even though he was with me while we waited 15 minutes in the street for someone else to open the door. Dogs with tags are obviously allowed. For €127, I expect at least basic courtesy and quality!
