Manade des Baumelles

The manade's own produce, including bull meat and vegetables, along with other local ingredients, made up the meal. Even the bread was homemade. We chose the six-piece menu: one amuse-bouche, two starters, two main dishes, and dessert. The restaurant was great, and so was the service. Charlotte, our chief waitress, was very kind and offered us a digestive liqueur made from 50 endemic plants. It's an absolutely stunning place, a real manade, a kind of Camargue ranch. You can spend time watching black bulls, riding horses, and wandering through sand and salt fields. Highly recommended.

The beef carpaccio with fig, green chilli, and tomato as a starter was a clever, creative dish. I found the cooking authentic and rare. See my photo. A restaurant this good is worth the drive away from the coast.

We left before dessert, so the €75 felt completely wasted. The meal had already gone wrong twice: one plate was incorrect, and when we asked for it to be fixed, it came out uncooked. The food they first brought was cold, and the waiters hurried us to order. After we complained, the manager offered us drinks as compensation.

The pigeons are raised in-house, and the dishes make the most of them. Really lovely combinations of flavors, with exceptional cooking. The service was warm and attentive too. A very nice surprise.
