Château Cagninacci B&B

Breakfast in the garden, with the sea in view, was the perfect close to a memorable stay. The rooms are roomy and thoughtfully furnished, with care in all the little details. Florence and Bertrand, two brothers, run the place with real dedication. Their old family home sits in the hills, around 15 minutes from the coast, and has a rare, peaceful atmosphere where everything moves more slowly, away from mass tourism. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

You can't return after 10:00, because the owners won't open the door. They also go through the cupboard and take fruit you've put there, saying you're not allowed to bring it in. Taking photos isn't allowed either. Breakfast is just orange juice, three croissants, and butter. Poor hygiene. Terrible in every way.

We left already wanting to come back as soon as we can. The hosts made us feel welcome with real warmth and simplicity, in a beautiful, peaceful and authentic place that feels like a stronghold of humanity. The park's old trees shade the setting, with a view over the island of Elba.

The sea view is breathtaking, and the place feels wonderfully quiet. It's surrounded by nature and trees, even though Bastia is only 10 minutes away.
