Les Hauts de Sancerre

The room was enormous and romantic, and we learned we were among the hotel's first guests when we arrived. My wife and I had booked two nights after our travel agent suggested the hotel, which had only opened in July. It was our first visit to Sancerre, and we had an amazing time. The staff, including Silva, Jennifer and Emma, were warm, friendly and attentive, and made us feel like celebrities. Breakfast was delicious. They also pointed us to a fantastic dinner spot just a two-minute walk away and a daytime wine tour with Lore, which is a must. The views are magical, with the whole valley in sight. From the historic tower at sunset, you can see vineyards, charming villages, mountains and forests in every direction. The Chateau and tower are landmarks across the region. We highly recommend staying here!

The Chateau’s 360-degree views were the highlight of our romantic weekend, and I’d love to come back soon. The design, luxurious touches and kind staff made the whole experience seamless and really impressive.

The exhibition was interesting and nicely presented, though it may not be for everyone. There’s also a small gift shop with tasteful local souvenirs. We thought the visit was well worth the money and made for a lovely couple of hours. Take the time to climb the many steps in the tower for wonderful 360-degree views across the countryside. If you’re in Sancerre, we’d highly recommend a visit.

It’s a small park with a chateau and tower, and we had a nice little visit. Only the downstairs of the chateau is open, with four rooms used for art exhibitions. There’s a nice view over the area from the top of the castle, though the experience felt a bit expensive.
