De La Pagezie

We had a rough time with the mattress. It seemed so worn that we both rolled toward the middle, which was uncomfortable. Staff smoking below our window also woke us every morning. The hotel itself is small and clean, with a nice breakfast, a well-kept pool and a convenient location, but those issues brought it down to three stars for us.

The pool, loungers, views and woodland were all lovely. The grounds and hotel are splendid, with a beautiful little room and a fabulous bathroom that both looked new. I really don't understand why it only has two stars.

We loved the pool, tucked into lush greenery with only birdsong around. The hotel is charming and peaceful, while still close to the centre of Sarlat. Our room was very comfortable and spotless, and breakfast was just right. Many thanks to the owners for making us feel so welcome and for being helpful throughout.

The room and bathroom were clean, but the toilet was a small macerator model. For two people, we got just one little soap bar and one small shower gel, and there wasn't even a kettle or tea on a welcome tray. The television was tiny, and the €10 breakfast felt sparse: mini pastries, two rolls each, a yogurt and a fruit compote. The owner was rather unpleasant. We also paid for a room we hadn't booked, though that mistake was ours, and when we had to leave unexpectedly, no refund was offered even if the room was rented again, which seemed quite possible. Not very customer-friendly, and we were very disappointed with this three-star hotel.
