Hotel Des Recollets

The hot water took ages to arrive, but the room was comfortable. It's a small hotel full of character in a quiet corner of the old town.

I loved the old building and its history, and the patio for breakfast was especially beautiful and peaceful. The hotel is right in the old city, handy for everything. Breakfast was excellent value, and those croissants were the best I had during my month in the Dordogne region. The staff were so kind and helpful. Such a great find!

We stayed for two nights and had enough time to explore. On checkout day they let us keep the car parked there while we visited the Saturday market, which was a real help. I paid €15 a night for the hotel's private parking farther up the hill, and felt it was worth it for peace of mind, given the limited public parking nearby and the larger lots farther away. Once we'd settled in, everything was close by: the hotel is about 100 metres from the main shopping and tourist area, with sights, shops and restaurants nearby. Finding it at first was tricky, though. We had to park in a public space and walk up a moderately steep pedestrian area. The hotel is in a tastefully restored, centuries-old monastery or convent, so the room and shower sizes made sense to me. The room looked small at first, but it was warm and very clean, with a really comfortable bed. There’s no lift, but the stairs weren't too difficult or strenuous. Reception was quick, efficient and friendly. It's a family business, now managed by the owners' daughter, who was pleasant and informative and also served a very nice breakfast. A very pleasant stay, and I'd book again if we return to town.

Melissa and her family were really helpful, and the service was excellent. I came with a small group of American University students, and we all had a fantastic stay. The location is great. A few of the rooms were on the small side, but we were all very pleased.
