Le Clos Vallis

Didier and Valerie made us feel very welcome, and breakfast was delicious. We loved the beautiful, comfortable room and the peaceful hillside setting above Sarlat. In the evenings, we sat on the terrace listening to birds and watching their donkey graze. They introduced us to their friendly cat and dog, too. The pool looked very inviting, though we didn’t manage to use it. It was a relaxing start to our Dordogne visit. Thanks to you both for your hospitality and for sharing such a restful place.

Valérie et Didier made our week at Le Clos Vallis feel just right. They helped us arrange transportation, connected us with the local car rental agency, offered dinner recommendations and reservations, and gave us a tour of the property and grounds. They shared its history and even samples from their walnut harvest. We’re so grateful, and already hope to return as soon as we can. We’ll be sending friends and family your way, too. Our three-generation family stayed in the gorgeous four-bedroom, five-bathroom GÎte. The spacious, comfortable place had a brand new kitchen, appliances, and bathrooms, with room for grandparents, parents, and children. We loved having our own large, refurbished, heated pool, and enjoyed the privacy and relaxed feel after long days exploring Sarlat and the Dordogne. Optional breakfasts were delicious, with homegrown and prepared Le Clos Vallis fruit preserve, local honey, meats, cheeses, yogurts, and fresh boulangerie items. The countryside views were peaceful, the flowers and trees were blossoming, and the night sky was great for stargazing. The kids had fun catching frogs and meeting the sweet pony and donkey, who are lucky to be retired in nearby fields. The Wi-Fi and internet worked great, too. The property has been beautifully updated from a former farm into a welcoming country estate, with all the amenities we could wish for. We also toured the lovely private accommodations for 2-4-6 people, including the larger refurbished pool area open to all guests. Le Clos Vallis can host around 40 people, so it could work as a base for several families or friends traveling together, or for smaller groups wanting a getaway. We were really impressed by the design and feel of the property.

Valérie et Didier made my husband's birthday especially thoughtful with a wonderful cake. We had everything we needed, and our room was perfect. The service and location were fantastic, and Valérie's cooking was excellent, all local and very high quality. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely be back. Thanks again!

The hosts went out of their way for us. They even washed and FOLDED my laundry, though I don’t think that’s normally part of the stay, haha. Breakfast was great, the fire was always cozy, and they gave us lots of useful advice and recommendations. The property was breathtaking and very close to town. We visited in the off season, in constant rain, with the pools closed, and still had a wonderful time. Highly recommend!
