Camping de Saulieu

We spent two relaxing weeks here, camping with our friends on a shaded pitch next to theirs. We were a couple with two children, aged 13 and 15, and found this a great base for exploring the area. It's a small, friendly, basic site, which suits us just fine. The staff were really accommodating, and some spoke English, which helped when my brain froze. There was a snack bar by the pool, some brilliant evening entertainment, and a shop with wine and most basics. The washing machine and dryer cost 4.50 euros each. They're big drums, and washing liquid is included. Showers were always hot, though each push button only ran for about 15 seconds, and they were clean and tidy. The toilets were clean and stocked with toilet paper. The only thing I'd change is access to them. When the pitches were full, the walk felt long, though it was at most three minutes. A permanent path through from both directions would be a real improvement. All in all, a happy, wholesome stay, and I'd recommend it.

The pool is on the small side, and could use more loungers around both the main pool and the kids' pool. Another washing machine and dryer would help too. Still, this is a good site, with nice pitches and clean toilets and showers. The town is within walking distance and has a good market. Food vans come a couple of times a week, which is a nice touch.

We only stayed a night on our way to Switzerland, so didn't get a chance to explore much, but the nearby town was nice for a walk. The campsite is pretty, with well-spaced pitches and very clean toilets and showers. The friendly receptionist gave us a lovely welcome. I'd recommend it.

The receptionists were very helpful and spoke both English and French. There is one large toilet block with separate showers and toilets for men and women, plus several smaller unisex facilities. The pool itself has no shade, but there's a pleasant terrace with seating just outside where you can sit in the shade. The pitches are quite close together, though that was clear when booking, so it wasn't a surprise.
