L'trianon

This listing is for a restaurant, not a hotel. It used to be a hotel years ago and has since become a restaurant. The owner has been trying for a long time to get Google to update the listing, but, well, Google is Google. Go for the food, wine, and the owner's hospitality. The food is prepared and presented at a top level, and the wine list is excellent.

We came back on holiday after 33 years, mostly for the nostalgia. Back in the early days of the EU right to work, we found jobs in the mushroom caves and could afford only a few places. Le Trianon was one of them. We'd sit with young students from the Cadre Noir and eat whatever Jaques cooked, always delicious and very cheap. Things at the restaurant, including the food, have changed a lot, but we enjoyed it just as much. The flavors were beautiful, every dish was perfectly presented, and we're so glad we returned. It's still great value too. I'm sure Jaques would be pleased. Merci.

The main courses were excellent. I really liked the salmon, and the steak-frites with bernaise sauce was top drawer. Starters were a bit hit and miss, though. We enjoyed the desserts and laid-back atmosphere too. The terrace has terrific views over the Loire, and there was a nice drinks selection. Our jug of rum punch was good value and certainly packed a punch. I'd highly recommend this restaurant.

We all found something we wanted on the small menu when we had lunch here. Great choices.
