Hôtel Minvielle - Résidence Les Oliviers

The buffet breakfast was self-service and had everything we wanted. We only stayed one night on our way to Spain, but the bright, cheerful atmosphere and welcoming reception made it a happy stop. The restaurant offered plenty of food and drink choices. Service took a little while, though the staff were pleasant and helpful even while very busy.

The seafood was so fresh and plentiful that we struggled to finish it, though it was delicious enough that we didn’t mind too much. Coming from the coast, I could tell it was excellent quality. The cooking is simple, like good French food at home, and the atmosphere is unfussy but convivial. For €17, the menu includes a full soup (garbure), entrée, main, dessert, coffee, and wine. I’ve never seen food this good in such generous portions for that price. Best quality for the money in Europe by far. The French know how to live, chapeau messieurs. Spectacular, merci.

We go here with a large group whenever we can. The big tables work well for us, and there’s a good selection of wines and dishes. It’s proper local food, done traditionally.

The portions are huge, so you definitely won’t leave hungry, which may be why lunch gets so busy. We arrived at 12.45 pm, just off the D834 between Aire sur L’Adour and Garlin, and the first of the two roomy dining rooms was already full. This hotel and restaurant has four menu de jours starting at €17, plus a broad à la carte menu and an extensive, affordable wine list. The staff were friendly and efficient, with no excessive waits between courses. Good quality and value in a clean, tidy place.
