Camping Le Haut-Salat

We booked two weeks at Camping le Haut Salat at first, during a four-week holiday, then ended up staying the whole four. We were after a mixed atmosphere, and this family-friendly campsite had plenty of friendly French guests. The owners and staff were helpful and welcoming. We managed to communicate by using our best French and their best English. The site is clean, and the toilet and shower blocks still seem fairly new. The river nearby isn’t deep enough to swim in, but its current will carry you along for a bit of fun. There’s a bakery just over 1 km away, or baguettes can be ordered at reception. The restaurant menu is small, but we really liked the pizzas and burgers. We didn’t get to explore the whole region, though the mountain peaks, caves, waterfalls, abandoned mining town, and drives around the area persuaded us to extend our stay. Some sights are a bit of a drive from the campsite, but well worth the trip. The paid internet wasn’t always stable, and the toilets could do with another clean just before the evening rush.
