We had a fun family break in a pretty, forested setting, and the cabin felt private rather than overlooked. The children could safely cycle and explore on their own, and loved the pump track just outside the site and the activities there. We also enjoyed the heated pool and the nearby accrobranch site in Digny. Staff were helpful: our broken door was fixed within an hour of us reporting it. This was our second Huttopia stay, though it left us a little less impressed than our visit two years ago. I’d give it 3.5 stars if I could. The restaurant was a letdown both times we ate there. The pizza was so overcooked my son wouldn’t touch it, which is very unlike him, and the potatoes were too salty for anyone at our table to eat. The chip machine was out of order all week, and several ice lollies were out of stock and never came back, disappointing for a 9 year old. The bread was good, but the pastries were only okay. Meat we kept in the fridge went off after several days even though it was still in date, so the fridge didn’t keep it fresh. We saw rats along the small lake’s banks on three occasions. They never came into our cabin, and I know it’s nature, though being that close might bother some people. There was litter left around, and a dead pigeon on a main path wasn’t cleared away as it became increasingly bloody, even though staff were moving around the site.

I really enjoyed the activities, from baking bread with Olivier to doing calligraphy with Alex. The village is lovely and close enough to walk to, and the surrounding area is great for forest walks and running. The staff were all friendly and patient when we had a couple of mishaps. We broke a cafétiere, then locked ourselves out of the cabin the following day. Everyone spoke English very well, and they were happy to help me practise my French too.

The idea and setting at Huttopia Senonches are lovely, but the stay felt disappointing. Some staff were kind and helpful; most seemed distant and not very receptive to feedback, so it was harder to feel welcome. Cleanliness also needs more attention. We found hairs in the fridge when we arrived, and the swimming pool didn’t look very clean, with visible hairs floating in the water. That didn’t feel hygienic.

The kids had loads to enjoy, including pony rides, the Huttolanta game, boating and swimming, with plenty of cycling and walking routes nearby. We stayed comfortably in a trappeur tent, in a peaceful spot in the forest. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the whole place had a warm, welcoming feel.

This was our third Huttopia holiday, and Huttopia Senonches is our favourite so far. The accommodation made for a really fun break, and the clean, safe site had plenty of interesting things to do. We had a brilliant stay and will be back.
