At first glance, the gardens in front, covered terrace with its large table, and nicely decorated room all made us feel very welcome. Christine and Francois Simon run the place, called "Escale tranquille", a private guest house, or "Quiet stopover". One of the owners was meticulous about cleaning the room and anti-Covid measures. Our disappointment was the towels, which smelled bad, as if they hadn't been dried or cleaned properly. Breakfast was another issue. We were a family of four, but were given one piece of baguette, one tea bag, two tiny saucers of jam, four croissants, a small jug of orange juice, coffee, and four yoghurts. When we asked for more, the owner said we couldn't help ourselves and had to ask, and that we should reuse a tea bag. It's a pity, given the guest house's good location and clean room. The price we paid for the service was above average.

The house itself is really pleasant, and Christine and her husband welcomed us warmly. But there was no air conditioning in our room, even though it had been advertised. During the recent heatwave, we had to sleep with the bedroom door open and got bitten by mosquitoes all night. The bathroom had no ventilation, just a drain above the shower, so the towels never dried. Such a shame.

Christine served a generous breakfast and gave us helpful tips about Sète and the surrounding area. We could leave our bicycles safely in a dedicated storage area, and the room was spacious and clean. Everything was in place for a wonderful stay at L'Escale Tranquille. We had a fantastic time and will definitely return!

We spent just 3 nights at the Tranquille stopover, and it was a very pleasant stay. Christine gave us a warm welcome and good advice on restaurants and places to eat in Sète. The room and bedding were very comfortable, and the location was ideal. Everything was perfect, and we highly recommend this lovely place.
