Alex made us feel welcome right away, and the service was exceptional. Our suite looked out over the canal, with an amazing view and enough space to feel like a small apartment. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The building has a distinctive character and a great atmosphere, though some updates would help. It still had everything we needed, and I’d recommend Le Grand Hotel.

The breakfast was pretty good, and the rooms were clean. It’s centrally located and there’s secure bike storage. My only small gripe: the large bed was two singles pushed together, so there’s a lump down the middle.

The canal views are lovely, and there’s a great choice of bars and cafés nearby. It’s also well placed for the station and markets, just a short walk away. A beautiful hotel.

It’s quiet, the staff are friendly, and there are plenty of breakfast choices. The decor is gorgeous and the location is great. There’s no bar in the hotel, but you’ll find lots along the road and across the bridges.

We opened the windows in our canal view room since we don’t like air-conditioning, but it can get a little noisy there during summer, so keep that in mind when choosing a room. Parking is only a few metres away, though the entrance is quite tight. The hotel has a nice restaurant with set-menu and individual choices. We really enjoyed Le Grand: it feels like a museum inside, and the decor is very tasteful. Everyone was friendly, and breakfast was fantastic, with local produce and fresh baguette early in the morning. Merci beaucoup! Anton et Ann
