Le Domaine Du Castellas

The interior is thoughtfully done, and the food is great. It’s a beautiful place in a fantastic, wonderfully remote spot.

The place itself is beautiful, but the dinner was one of our worst experiences. A table for seven had been booked, yet when we arrived they said it was for five. Even after we explained there may have been a misunderstanding and that all seven of us were there, they told us they only had enough food for five. That was shocking for a restaurant, and the portions that eventually came were still for five. Service made things worse. One of us heard the waitress complaining about our group to her colleagues after we brought up the booking. When we challenged her, she was rude and raised her voice, saying, “de quoi jme mele, je discute avec mes collègues.” Then she spilled a full glass of wine on two people in our group. She went off to clean herself instead of first helping them or even apologizing. Poor organisation, appalling service, and no professionalism. We won’t be back or recommend it. Tant pis !

The setting and atmosphere are lovely, but the service was a real letdown for the price. I found the whole experience extremely disappointing, with very little attention to customer care. There was hardly any consideration for dietary restrictions, especially food intolerances and vegetarian or vegan diets. For somewhere that gives the impression of a high-end experience, the service didn’t meet basic expectations. I can’t recommend it for a professional, inclusive, customer-focused meal.

We only had dinner, and it’s absolutely worth going for. The grounds are spectacular, the food is delicious, and the staff are really friendly. It’s a romantic spot too. Just be sure you’re comfortable driving up those roads.
