Case Vanille

A lovely Airbnb.

We had an excellent family holiday in Case Vanille’s self-catering cottage. The garden and sea and mountain views are magnificent, and the terrace was a lovely place to sit. The rooms stayed cool and were comfortable, and the pool was a welcome extra. Francesca and Richard were helpful, available when needed, and discreet. For families with young children, it’s worth knowing the bedrooms don’t connect to each other; the terrace is between them, and the third bedroom is in another part of the garden. We managed by having a bed set up in the living room beside one bedroom for our youngest daughter. The layout seems better suited to a few couples or families with older children.

The owners were incredibly welcoming, and the value for money was excellent. We found the B&B website at the last minute while desperately searching for somewhere to sleep in southern Corsica. I say “we,” though really I was the one browsing while my wife was at work and the kids were on PlayStation. They practice Fifa, but I’m still better. I emailed asking for a room, and within minutes they replied that they had availability, so I booked right away. Finding the B&B on the hill above Solenzara took a little effort, but the sea view was magnificent. The two kind hosts gave us connecting rooms so the children wouldn’t disturb us at night. The rooms were lovely, with a nice bathroom and air conditioning that was incredibly useful in the heat. We also enjoyed a late afternoon swim in the small pool before having a delicious dinner by the sea. Breakfast was romantic, with an elegantly set table and excellent food, especially the homemade jams. The owner shared plenty of information in French and English. It was a beautiful, relaxing stay, and we hope to come back.

We stayed in the smaller apartment, which was modern and had every comfort. The owners were super friendly, and served generous breakfasts with delicious homemade jams. The location is beautiful and well placed, about an hour from the loveliest beaches in southern Corsica. We’ll definitely be back.
