Seaside Stay in Sari-solenzara

The staff were very nice, but the hotel was in terrible condition and didn't look like the pictures. Check recent reviews, because the good ones are a bit dated. The place was dirty and run-down, with holes in the stained glass around reception. There was a musty smell and a strong smell of stale tobacco. Only one room had heating, and the insulation was so bad that we had to put covers over the windows. When we arrived there was no bedding. We were given old chalet blankets instead of sheets, and even after insisting on proper blankets suitable for a 3-star hotel, we were cold in winter with only a duvet and no sheet. I wouldn't recommend it.

Our accommodation was high up on the property, so we were lucky to have views of both the sea and the pool. The bedding was comfortable, though the terrace was small and covered in ants. We got used to them. The location is great for the beaches and swimming in the river, but the residence needs renovation and looks poorly maintained. The old reception at the entrance is abandoned and rather ugly, though it looked better than the new one in a converted apartment. Laundry carts sat by the entrance for days, partly blocking the walkway, and could easily have been put out of sight. The stucco is weathered and needs fungicide treatment. The green spaces are neglected, with dead plants left in place, some damaging the walls, and mimosa and other unwanted plants taking over. The pool terrace floor is crumbling. The place really needs a refresh. I'm sharing a photo of the view to finish on a positive note, but we won't be back.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and attentive to what we needed. This is a quiet residence in a good location near Favone beach, about a 400m walk, with secure access through a tunnel under the T10. The residence is aging but fairly well maintained. Its entrance is on a bend in the T10 where traffic moves fast, so take care when driving in or out. The gate shuts very early, at 7:30 p.m., which takes some planning. Parking just outside is easy to reach but fills up fairly quickly. The property isn't flat, either. It's a bit of a climb to the pool and steeper still to some apartments, so plan ahead if mobility is an issue. Facilities are limited: a large pool with a maximum depth of 1.40m, a 24-hour laundry with two washing machines and a dryer that takes credit card only, and a bowling alley. There is no playground, sports field, or other children's activity. The pool is large and well-kept, though worn. Around thirty plastic loungers and about ten umbrellas are available. The entrance shower was broken, but they'd rigged up a temporary shower head. Not pretty, but it worked. Our basic, functional accommodation, number 74 above the pool, sleeps six and could use a little refreshing. Soundproofing is poor, so we could clearly hear the neighbors and chairs squeaking on the tiles. The air conditioning worked well and quietly. Bedrooms were fairly large, with plenty of storage and hangers, which is rare. The bedding was good but hard because it was too new. The bathroom has a built-in toilet, which made managing life in the small space awkward. The kitchen is small but functional, with all the necessary equipment and a fairly large fridge. The terrace is small and somewhat sheltered, with a lovely view over Favone Cove. A nice, quiet residence in a good spot, but it's clearly not designed for children.
