After two weeks walking the Via Tolosana, the three of us spent our final night here. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and elegant, and the staff were attentive, helpful, and polite. We also really enjoyed the excellent meal, which made lovely use of local produce, along with the great wine choices. Highly recommend.

Breakfast was freshly made and great value, so I’d definitely have it if you stay here. We were there on a Sunday night in summer and seemed to have the whole place to ourselves, but they were still happy to make us food. That hospitality stood out. We ate on the veranda overlooking the valley, and the food was on a par with the best restaurants I’ve been to. One of the most amazing hotel and restaurant experiences I’ve had.

The restaurant is the real surprise here: creative, delicious food that’s well worth trying, even if the portions are a little small. The rooms are spacious and the beds are amazing. The place feels basic overall, but it’s clean. It’s a small hotel and restaurant tucked away in the middle of nowhere, in a village that’s surprisingly neat. Walking up to the ruins of the chateau du Neyran gives you a great view over the valley, and there are tougher hikes around too, including Herik, colombiere, and caroux. Just keep hunting season in mind. Wild boar hunting doesn’t seem to encourage much thought, and hikers are involved in accidents every year.

The views helped make it a perfect evening, and the food was excellent. The staff were really attentive too. We all had a lovely time and couldn’t fault anything. Well worth a visit.

The comfortable rooms and outstanding food made our weekend at L'Ortensia a real pleasure. It’s in a beautiful location too. Highly recommended, and we plan to come back.
