Hôtel Burgevin

The staff were first class, and we had plenty of restaurants within an easy stroll. The Loire was close by too. My wife and I spent two nights here, which gave us time to explore the town and the surrounding area. A lovely hotel.

Frederick really helped us keep our trip in France going when we were stuck without a car. The rental company was giving us trouble, and he kindly made call after call with us, spaced out over time. He even arranged another taxi as a backup in case we couldn't get a replacement car. He also pointed us toward Moroccan food from people in town, which was delicious, and we had a great time. Our room was clean, nicely furnished and felt very homey. The welcome was warm, and we could choose our breakfast time, which was great. The food was fresh and tasty too. It felt more like staying in a home than a big corporate hotel, while still having proper hotel cleanliness. The location worked well for both Chateau Sully and nice places to eat and drink nearby. Sophie and her colleagues made me feel like a king. They spoke great English, served me a good beer with humour and courtesy, and gave me a clear rundown of places to eat and a local map. My room was large, airy and on the ground floor, with windows onto a big courtyard. It was spotless, and there was safe, secure storage for my bicycle. The shower was brilliant, and the towels were thick and creamy. And the bed was the best I've had in about 50 stays on pistes cyclables: truly king size, very clean and firm. Breakfast was huge, with plenty of choice for a vegetarian cyclist. This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in en France. The Château is worth seeing too. Don't miss a great stay, a six étoile experience.

The hotel is an easy five minute walk from the awe-inspiring Chateau de Sully and several restaurants, and parking was simple and convenient. We stayed in two rooms, both spacious and comfortable, and found the breakfast buffet full of good food to choose from. It's a lovely restoration of an ancient building, with the feel of history alongside the light and space of contemporary design. The staff gave us a warm welcome and were very helpful.
