Camping Les Gorges de l'Hérault

We couldn’t have been happier with our stay after stumbling across Camping les gorges de l‘hérault by chance. It’s wonderfully quiet beside a lovely swimming spot on the river, with enough room for everyone to enjoy themselves. We especially liked being able to enjoy the stillness of nature. The washrooms were kept very clean, and the restaurant served tasty food with wonderful service from Magalie. Julie and Frédéric were such great hosts, always kind and helpful. The campsite is a handy base for hiking, biking, swimming, and canoeing, though other tourist attractions are about a 60-minute drive away. The river is great for a swim, with rapids and jumps, and there’s enough depth for swimming. Staff are really friendly, the pitches are nice, and the sanitary facilities are fine and cleaned regularly. My one drawback was the busy road right beside the site. It was very audible during the day and sometimes kept me awake at night.

I’ve never encountered more unpleasant, unfriendly management at a hotel or campsite. I’d read reviews describing the staff as “friendly,” which was a big surprise after my own experience. The manager didn’t give his name after the person on our side had introduced themselves. He was unfriendly toward the children, and whenever we had a question or small request, the answer was negative. We aren’t Europeans, and I felt we weren’t welcome. To be fair, the facilities were okay apart from the very unclean pool entrance, and the river was nice. I couldn’t find a way to reply to the owners’ response, so I’m adding this here. I checked before writing, and I was at your campsite. The reservation wasn’t under my name. People deserve to read my review and make their own choice.

It was so peaceful, and the river right beside the site was great for swimming and cliff diving. The location was excellent, and the woman at reception was very nice and spoke English. The mobile homes felt a bit cramped, and the shower clogged and flooded easily. Apart from that, we had a lovely time.
