Excellent.

We spotted deer and squirrels while we were there, and the meals were excellent. The gîte itself is pleasant and well suited, though that 15% slope is pretty steep on a bike. Nicolas and the whole team gave us a very warm welcome. I'd highly recommend it.

There are several big shared spaces, including a ground-floor bar and communal area with lots of wooden games, plus huge games rooms upstairs with ping pong and more wooden games. There are also reading and TV rooms. The staff are all very friendly, the evening meal is very good with two starter and main course options, and breakfast is good, if fairly standard. Rates are affordable, and the place is large and well situated near the ski lifts and a pond for walks. A few things could be better. At dinner, the dish you want may run out because there isn't enough of each option. The rooms are small, as you'd expect since they were originally for school groups and summer camps, but the bedding and pillows aren't great. Some heaters are much too hot or too cold, the shower heads need replacing, and proper large towels would be welcome after those small showers.

I can't understand all the good reviews. We had no hot water, shared toilets, and an uncomfortable bed. There was no Wi-Fi or 4G either. At mealtimes, an old woman rang a bell like we were cows, and there weren't even enough tables for her own family to eat together. A really bad experience. If you're reading this, pick another hotel. Sincerely.
