Ténéo Apparthotel Talence - Arthéna

It was a clean, welcoming, economical place that worked fine, though the bed felt too soft to me. Parking is on public roads. We ate dinner a couple of times on the large top-floor balcony, which had a good view. The kitchens are small but usable, and everything else was there. A sponge for washing up would have helped.

The location was great and the beds were okay, but the photos don’t look like the actual place. The rooms got unbearably hot. The one fan did very little, and I woke up drenched in sweat every day. There was a moldy smell in the rooms, too. Breakfast cost 9€, while at least four nearby shops offered better quality and the same amount for just 2-3€.

The tram stop is right nearby, and the place is close to the university. The lift was good, and the staff were helpful, though not everyone spoke good English. Our room had an unpleasant smell, so check for that. Housekeeping came during the last week, even though the room was only eligible for weekly cleaning. That part was a nice surprise, but the strange thing was that she asked us to leave the room and wait elsewhere, then told us to remember to do that next time. And wherever you are in the world, keep your belongings locked in your bags.

I hadn’t realized “Apparthotel” meant being miles away from a hotel. The whole place was a disaster. It felt like they had the university wrapped around their fingers and were preying on the students. Our room was on the 4th floor, and the lift stayed broken for 3+ days. Staff were inattentive, and the rooms were less than basic.
