Camping Le Verdoyant - Gites

Our boys, who are 6 and 9, had football and a play area to keep them busy, and the caravan park looked like it had plenty more to do. The beer was reasonably priced, and we enjoyed the food too. We've owned a property across from camping le Verdoyant for three years, but avoided the bar and restaurant after reading a review claiming the owners didn't like English people. During our last three weeks here, we went to the bar about eight times and ate there twice. The owners were polite and helpful, and I'm glad we gave it a try. It was nice joining the French holidaymakers. Worth a visit.

The pitch was spacious, with plenty of shade, but our stay felt very uncomfortable. The owner was rude to my wife more than once, and we felt unwelcome. Someone on site told us he didn't like the English, and we noticed there were flags for different countries but no Union Jack. We tried to find another campsite, but everywhere was full. The pool has no shallow section, so it doesn't work well for small children. The toilet and shower block was also unpleasant. I wouldn't choose this site again.

It feels like a calm, green oasis. There's a pool to swim in, spots for fishing, and good food made by Véro, who is both a co-owner and the chef. The lovely couple Véro and Christophe own and run the place.

For anyone camping in a tent, the lights being left on all night is a big problem. That's my only complaint.
