Tiara Yaktsa Côte d'Azur

It’s about 30 minutes from Cannes and a little out of the way, but the place was peaceful when we visited, with not many people around. The pool is fantastic and has a great view. This lovely hotel also has wonderful views and great service. Rooms can be spacious, depending on what you book. There’s a sister hotel that seems more lively, and you can go between the two with a ride from the hotel. If the location works for you, I highly recommend it.

Tiara Yaktsa sits in a peaceful, quiet spot in the heart of the French Riviera, with breathtaking views from the room, restaurant, and pool. Breakfast on the restaurant terrace comes with a sea view. The charming building has Moroccan design touches, and everything was very clean, with well-maintained grounds. Tiara Miramar, the sister property, is a short, scenic walk away, with a cosy beach to enjoy.

We were surprised on arrival to learn that our booking was in a second, much older building in the same complex. The booking details didn’t make that clear, and the website photos showed a modern, well-maintained hotel with direct beach access and valet parking. The building we were given was nothing like that: dated rooms, poorly maintained bathrooms, no beach access, no valet parking, and only street parking. The only option offered for using the advertised amenities was a shuttle bus to the main hotel. It felt like misleading advertising. The front desk staff were also quite condescending, as if we somehow didn’t “belong” at the main property. As IHG members, we expected clearer information and better customer service. Overall, it was a disappointing stay that felt more like a bait-and-switch than a fair picture of what we booked.

The logistics for reaching the sister property were frustrating. Although it’s promoted as part of the guest experience, there’s no shuttle between the two, so guests have to make their own way up and down a steep mountain road. Breakfast on the terrace isn’t allowed either, because of a licensing limitation that only permits outdoor dining during dinner. For a premium stay above the Mediterranean, missing that view during breakfast feels like a baffling oversight. Even when breakfast is included, Eggs Benedict costs an extra €10. It’s the principle that feels tacky and at odds with a luxury stay. The room was a reasonably spacious suite, but the décor was dated and the views were underwhelming, especially for a rate of more than €800 per night. We expected more from Hôtel Tiara Yaktsa Côte d’Azur as a place presenting itself as a 5-star luxury hotel. Service was inconsistent and fell short of luxury. The person at check-in was friendly, but didn’t explain that breakfast and access to the oceanfront amenities at the sister property were included in our rate. Several later interactions with reception felt unprofessional. More than once, staff stayed leaning casually in their chairs instead of standing to greet us. It came across as dismissive and out of place in a refined hotel. The stay was thoroughly underwhelming. The hotel felt outdated, service sloppy and unrefined, and the experience full of missed chances and frustrating oversights. At €800+ per night, it was an overpriced disappointment, not a luxury property by any stretch. We won’t return or recommend it.
