Enzo Hotels Thionville by Kyriad Direct

The breakfast was nice, and the Formula 1 displays were fun to see, especially the real car and driver memorabilia. But our room was tiny, narrow, and the windows wouldn’t open. There was a ventilation opening that made it freezing at night. We reported it, but they couldn’t fix it, so we had to deal with it ourselves. Apparently rooms above the first floor all had this problem. The bed also had hairs and stains, so the room wasn’t clean. The hotel isn’t near a city center, and there’s little around besides a few restaurants. It could work for a night or two, but I wouldn’t suggest a longer stay.

For €90, there are better places nearby. The staff didn’t seem professional: I called two days ahead to ask when the spa and wellness area would be available, then on the day they told me it wasn’t working because they didn’t know how to operate it. Breakfast was so-so, and they stopped replenishing food an hour before it ended, which left limited choices. The hotel used to be lovely, but it hasn’t been looked after properly. Parts were broken, including a bathroom door that was jammed shut, and there was hair on the mattress and dust under the bed, as shown in the picture.

We finally got our keys after nearly two hours. The online booking and automatic check-in took our money but gave us no key. We rang every reception and emergency number; nobody answered for 15 minutes, even though we could hear the phone inside. After we kept calling, someone came out and opened reception, but he couldn’t sort it out. He brought another man who seemed to have been asleep in a room, and he couldn’t help either. They called a third person, who managed to fix things after another half hour. The room was in really bad shape and had no towels. We went back to ask for towels, but reception had already shut again. It had only been open for 30 minutes. Ridiculous.

We ended up here because we arrived very late, but there are better choices in the area. The receptionist was very helpful, and parking was free. The room needs work, with quite a few broken things, and it didn’t feel worth the €74 we paid. On the first floor, the window wouldn’t open.
