I didn't stay at the hotel, but during the power failure in October 2025 I was fortunate to meet the head cook and the owner of Hotel de France et de Russie. The tourist office, the mayor, the House de Service, and the French National Telephone Service Orange had all failed to help. Orange completely let me down, then charged me for calling its emergency service, claiming I wasn't home to receive them. The owner kindly let me use the internet, which meant I could reach people around the world when I needed help. It's a calm place to work or relax even when everything around you is chaotic. If you need quality, I'd tell people to book here when they get the chance.

The staff were very helpful, and breakfast was excellent, with a tasty selection of local breads and jams. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and pleasant. Room 5 had a particularly cute old-fashioned bathroom. The hotel was also well placed for all the places we wanted to visit. I'm looking forward to coming back!

We had a pleasant stay. The garden is very pretty, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable, with a very good bed. The decor felt old-fashioned and could use an update, and a few small repairs are needed. Breakfast was modest but fine.

We came for a nearby wedding and found the place fantastic. The rooms were charming and spacious, with comfortable beds and big, clean bathrooms. Breakfast was tasty, and everything happening in Thiviers was close by. The owners were incredibly helpful. A top place, recommended.

The gardens are stunning, and the restaurant is absolutely worth trying. This is a beautiful traditional hotel, with very clean rooms that have a lovely French feel. Sharon and Adrian are superb hosts, always ready to help with anything.
