Gite Aux Deux Cerfs

The apartment itself is really nice, which makes this all the more disappointing. The owner kept €30 for cleaning over reasons that felt completely unbelievable. The vacuum supposedly hadn’t been emptied, though she said she did it herself. She said sheets had scribbles on them even though we hadn’t used them, and complained about marks on the sinks after we washed them but didn’t dry them. The blankets were put away but too far to one side of the shelf, and the beds were made, just not her way. The only thing we were actually at fault for was a stain at the bottom of the toilet. We’ve rented lots of places and never had this kind of problem before. Looking at the reviews, we’re not the only ones. There’s definitely something fishy going on with these extra cleaning charges.

We had a really good stay. The owner communicated well, and the cottage was quiet, spacious, and nicely laid out. It was also very clean and pleasant.

The cottage was comfortable and really lovely, but, as another reviewer put it, “there’s a catch.” We didn’t check in or out with the owner, yet three days after we left she made comments and cashed the cleaning check.

A lovely, welcoming cottage, but there’s a wolf!
