Curling Hôtel & Bar

The location is great, but this is a terrible hotel. The rooms are tiny and barely basic, and the bathroom had several broken tiles. My boots were wet in the morning because the boot warmer wasn't working, but when I complained, they argued that it runs overnight. Half board doesn't include a cooked breakfast, or any drinks with dinner, not even soft drinks. I won't come back and definitely wouldn't recommend it.

The location is good, and most of the staff were very helpful. One curly haired staff member was rude and gave us the wrong ski passes. They offered to refund the pass, but fixing the mistake used up nearly half of a ski lesson.

This is a basic ski hotel at best, despite its central spot in Val Claret, close to the slopes, bars, and restaurants. Ear plugs are handed out on arrival for a reason. Noise from the bars and clubs goes on until 2.30 am, then the snow ploughs start at 4.00 am. If you want a quiet night's sleep, don't stay here. The reception shuts at 7pm, so nobody met us. The barman told us dinner wasn't available on arrival even though we'd paid for half board, which was completely untrue. We ended up paying for dinner at a nearby restaurant. Meals are served at Laks Bistro under the hotel. Hotel Curling guests get a fixed menu, but the ingredients were cheap, bland, and tasteless. One meal was tinned vegetable soup, plain pasta with fried mushrooms, and split creme caramel. We complained about the quality and eventually ate out at our own expense. Breakfast was simple and short on variety, and the coffee from the machine was undrinkable. Our room clearly hadn't been vacuumed before we arrived, and there was black mould around the bath silicone, so hygiene was questionable. Some attention to detail could make this place much better: proper double glazing, better food, and cleaner rooms. As it is, I wouldn't return or recommend it.

The customer service was diabolical. I've never been treated so rudely or seen customers treated so badly. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, and I'd give it zero stars if I could. Strongly recommend avoiding it.
