The rooms were clean and the staff helpful, and in general I liked the hotel. The disappointing part was the internet. I was told they were waiting for a fiber optic connection, but I couldn’t read or open emails, let alone watch videos or videochat with friends. Maybe my expectations are high because I work in the field. I’ve included the speedtest screenshot.

A lovely traditional hotel with very friendly staff. The food was amazing, and being right at the edge of the slopes made it easy to ski off in the morning. There’s also a spa room downstairs.

We’ve stayed three times now, and it won’t be our last. The Gentiana is lovely in nearly every other way, even though the rooms aren’t luxury standard. They’re more than adequate. The hotel food is easily the best we’ve had in the Alpes, though fussy children might have trouble at dinner. There’s no children’s menu, but they can sometimes make pasta if you ask. You can ski right to the back of the hotel, then have to climb a spiral staircase. Most people instead walk 150m up the street from the centre of Tighes ski area. All considered, it’s hard to beat, which is why people keep coming back year after year.

For the slopes, it’s a five-minute walk downhill to the lifts. Wi-Fi, a ski locker, pool and steam room are available. There are two hot tubs, one warm and one at a low level. The sauna is there too, though its boards are loose and it feels aged. Rooms are okay, with decent storage and a balcony. Breakfast is minimal.

We were welcomed warmly, and the staff were flexible and kind. The SPA is nice for a small hotel, and breakfast was good. Dinner was slow to arrive and wasn’t amazing.
