We spent a brilliant week at MMV L’Altaviva in Tignes 1800, just me and my daughter. The room was perfectly adequate for two and could have worked for four, maybe even five. It had a fully equipped kitchen and a roomy dining space, though we usually ate out on the balcony and enjoyed the mountain views. The building was large, clean, and welcoming. There isn’t much supplied in the room, as other guests have said, so we picked up essentials when we arrived. That’s pretty normal for a self-catering stay. Getting out to ski each morning was easy. From the locker room we could ski down to the first lift, and a gentle red run brought us back in the afternoon. We often stopped for a crêpe and a drink before the last run to the hotel. There’s a huge range of pistes, and we managed at least six good hours of skiing a day around Tignes, Val d’Isère, and up to the Grande Motte Glacier. By midweek we were feeling it, so the hotel spa was a great place to unwind before the next day. Tignes 1800 is fairly quiet, but we still had four lovely meals out. The free bus to Tignes Le Lac runs regularly through the day and into the evening, making it easy to get around. Reception staff were fantastic from the start, greeting us each day with useful tips on places to visit and pistes to try. We got lucky with the conditions: blue skies every day and enough snow to keep everything open. We’re sad to be home and are already looking at next year. I’d highly recommend Résidence Club MMV L'Altaviva.

This was a nightmare, and the value for the price was awful. They advertised free parking, but there are only about 15 spots, first come, first served. The ski rental shops were the most expensive in the area, and the only small supermarket is a 15-minute walk away with awkward opening hours. There was no toilet paper, and if you don’t do the company’s cleaning yourself, they fine you 100 euros. The ski lift was closed, so the advertised ski-in, ski-out access wasn’t available. To ski, we had to walk about 15 minutes up a steep hill to a crowded bus that came every half hour, with everyone crammed in like cattle. The room heaters didn’t work, and we ended up using the oven to warm our hands. Don’t make the same mistake we did. Avoid this place.

Getting to the ski slopes from here is great. The welcome pack, though, was a sponge, a cloth, and 2ml of Fairy liquid, which is hardly much of a welcome. Supplies for the week were sparse too: one bin bag, no hand soap, and a single toilet roll. I was also disappointed that the hot tub costs extra, even after paying for the hotel.

We had another very satisfying family holiday here. The staff were kind and helpful, the activities were fun, and the kids were thrilled with both the kids club and the events. The location is very convenient for skiing. We’ll keep coming back :-)

We’re a family that skis every year, and the hotel worked really well for us. The gondola is right outside and takes you up to the top of the resort. It had opened a few days before we arrived at the start of the season. There’s also a supermarket and restaurants just up the hill. The location is a 5/5 for us: ski in, ski out, with the locker room leading onto the bottom of the nursery slope. The ski schools meet at the top of the magic carpet, so getting my three children to lessons each morning was straightforward. The apartments were clean, warm from the underfloor heating, and fully equipped. The check-in process was the only downside, and it was slow on what we heard was the busiest day of the year. After seeing some negative reviews, I wanted to share our good experience. This isn’t a five-star spa retreat, but it is a well-equipped four-star place, just as described. We had a great stay.
