Les Suites Champenoises

Nouria was a welcoming, friendly host, and breakfast was excellent. The rooms were tidy, clean, and cool, making this a perfect stop for us on the way back from Italy to the UK. If you want to visit Reims, be aware that the location is some distance from the center. Also watch out for the drains on the local street, which can do nasty damage to alloy wheels.

The room was just what we needed, and we felt right at home throughout an amazing stay. Nouria was an incredible host, so kind and caring. Breakfast was great too, with delicious bread and patisserie from the best local shops.

I've never said this before, but what a horrible, evil host. We booked both suites, one for us and one for our sons, aged 3 and 5. We expected check-in at 15:00, then realised early on it wasn't until 17:00. We asked if an earlier arrival might be possible. After two days of waiting for a reply, Nouria said it wasn't. Fine. We arrived at 16:55 and rang the bell, and she told us to wait another 15 minutes. We'd paid GBP 207 for both rooms, and although we were disappointed, we could accept the wait. But she refused to open the gate so we could wait in the garden or driveway, leaving us with two young kids standing on the road. When she came out, we had only said “bonjour” to her, but she said she didn't like my facial expression and thought we were uneducated people. We're a normal couple. She shouted and pointed her finger, saying we had no right to ask to wait in the garden or driveway and must stay on the street until she was ready to let us in, well after 17:00. It was all in front of our children. We had to find another hotel after a long drive. I've never met such a horrible person. Awful.

It's a cute little bnb with just two suites, so the host gives you practically undivided attention and knows the area well. I found it a bit irritating that we only got a room key, with no key for the front door. The host was always able to open it for us when we got back, though. It might not suit people who stay out late.
