Hôtel Albert 1er

The breakfast helped make up for the noise. It was the best I’ve had at hotels of a similar quality, with fresh squeezed orange juice made from oranges brought from Valencia, Spain, plenty of French dishes cooked right at the hotel, and a funny way of boiling eggs. 😝 The location is another plus, right among the tourist attractions, a few meters from the Basilica and beside the main traditional food market. The staff were always ready to help. Over my two nights, the experience was a mixed one. The rooms looked spacious and lovely at first, with comfortable beds and a fairly large bathroom, but I was on the top floor and a deep machinery noise made it impossible to sleep. Luckily I could change rooms, and the front desk guy that night was cool and understanding. The new room was okay, though I could still hear the air exhausts a few meters down the terrace. Ear plugs helped with that. I’d give it a 4 overall.

The staff were friendly and very accommodating when we needed to change our dates. The hotel was excellent and the location very convenient. We really enjoyed the morning breakfast, with lots of options. Merci!

The bathroom had an extremely strong chlorine smell, which made it seem that a lot of mold may have been removed shortly before. That was unpleasant and concerning. I wouldn’t stay here again and strongly advise others to avoid it. Things went wrong from the moment I arrived. The receptionist was rude and disrespectful, and made me feel completely unwelcome. There was no service and no effort to help. Although I had a confirmed booking, my reserved room wasn’t available, and nobody told me in advance. They offered me a cheap, inferior room but still wanted to charge the same high price. That felt like a rip-off and was unacceptable.

The hotel was an easy walk from the train station, and its spot worked really well for sightseeing and getting to the metro. We found the room spotless and nicely equipped, and breakfast was delicious. Everyone was kind and helpful during our two comfortable days at Hotel Albert 1er. We’ll definitely come back.
