Hôtel la Chaumière

The room was comfortable and clean, with older furniture that covered all the essentials. There was no air conditioning, but the fan worked well enough. The woman at reception was very welcoming and made sure we had what we needed despite a small language barrier. With its outside 'tower', wooden ceiling beams and cozy downstairs dining areas, the place has the feel of an old medieval inn. There was plenty of parking in the lot across the street, even on Saturday night. Breakfast was the usual French fare: croissant, baguette, juice, a hot drink and local preserves. We'd definitely stay again.

I love this place. It has good old-fashioned comfort and a smile, even if you arrive grumpy after a long drive like I did. The bed was super comfy, and there were extra square pillows on top of the armoire for anyone not used to bolsters. Tea, coffee and a kettle are in the room, and dogs are welcome for a small supplement. It's perfectly situated near the huge parking lot by the river, though their own parking space is 600m away. To avoid hauling bags up too many flights, ask for a first-floor room. If you park under the trees, pick up a disk from the tourist office next door and mark your arrival time. Arrive on Saturday evening and you'll wake up to a big open market filling the quay on Saturday morning.

The couple running the place were so welcoming, and even brought my bicycle into the bar. I ate well and slept well, thanks to the food and the oldie-worldie bedroom. Such an excellent place to stay, merci beaucoup.

A perfect spot for a special evening out, with delightful people serving quality food and drinks at very reasonable prices.
