The room and bathroom felt a little dated, but the staff were really nice and helpful. The pool is beautiful, and breakfast was very nice.

We booked the takeaway lunch advertised on the website and agreed it would be ready at 8:30, though placing the order was already a bit difficult. When we went to collect it, there was nothing and apparently no record of the order. We had to reach the boat for a day trip at 9:30, with a 45-minute drive plus time to search and walk, so we were under pressure. The man left without explaining, then came back ten minutes later with what they called “lunch.” For a restaurant with a Michelin star, we got a dry bread sandwich, a bottle of water, some rice with chicken and corn, and two small prunes or something. It wasn't what we expected, and neither was the reaction from the man at the desk. He told us we should slow down because we were on holiday. We had paid €110 for the trip, and the boat would have left without us if we hadn't been on time. The room and the other people at the hotel were nice, but this was a very uncomfortable situation. The food was like prison food, dry bread and water!

The bed was comfortable, though I suspect the duvet would have been far too warm if the weather had been hotter. Some bathroom fittings are showing their age, with plumbing problems that reminded me of French hotels in the 1970s. We'd booked the room well ahead, but nobody told us we needed to reserve a restaurant table in advance, so we couldn't eat there during our four-night stay. Not as good as it should be.

The room was nicely furnished, if a little small, and breakfast was superb quality. The hotel has lovely grounds beside the river, on the edge of Treguier. It's about a ten-minute walk to the main square by the Cathedral. A comfortable place to stay.

The Degustation menu at Aigue Marine was an amazing experience. Every course brought a lovely mix of flavours and textures, with great wines and lovely service alongside. We were glad to make the 900 km trip again for dinner.
