L'incomparable Hotel

The staff were friendly, and having a Dyson hairdryer in the room was a nice touch. Our lake view was nice, though the room wasn't especially cosy. For the price, I’d put the stay nearer 3.5/5 than 4. The hotel still has a lot to do to live up to its name. Right now it feels average, not incomparable. Breakfast choices were limited, and more fruit and vegetables would help. The room service menu surprised me too, there were barely any options.

The only real issues were the toilet, which was a fair distance from the bathroom and had no hand basin, and some loud guests above the hot tub who disturbed the otherwise peaceful balcony. I also can't understand why people thought it was okay to make noisy video calls from inside the pool. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the pool water was fabulous. The staff, restaurant, and amazing lake view were all superb. Each morning, opening the curtains to that view was a delight. The chef made two sublime vegetarian tasting menus just for us. Everyone on staff was helpful and friendly, especially Christelle at the pool bar, who was an incredible host.

The night desk woman was excellent and kind, but the front desk attendant at check-in had a nasty attitude that made us feel like a nuisance. She only gave us the lake view we’d been promised after a long back-and-forth, then they tried to charge us extra for it at checkout. The property and grounds are pleasant and beautiful, but the service left a lot to be desired. This is the kind of stress we had to deal with throughout the stay, and it undermined the chance to relax. It doesn’t meet 5-star standards, and the high cost is hard to justify. I can’t recommend it.

My bedroom and bathroom were beautiful, and the service felt attentive without being intrusive or snobby. The hotel sits peacefully on a hill above the lake. I absolutely loved it and would thoroughly recommend it.
