Villa Casalane

The house is well located, with a pleasant terrace and a lovely view of Anse à l'Âne, but the amenities really need attention for what it costs. We arrived to find the trash still full. There weren't enough glasses for four couples, the laundry detergent pods were moldy in their box, and one bedroom smelled of urine throughout our stay. The shower mixer was broken and only gave hot water. The bedroom air conditioning was set to run only from 8 PM to 7 AM and from 1 PM to 3 PM, which is unheard of in Martinique. We were told we could pay to use it in the afternoon between 2:30 and 5:30 PM, but when we kept asking to use it on our own terms, the owners didn't respond. The €200 cleaning fee feels like a rip-off when an efficient cleaner here charges €50. The place is in pretty average condition, like much of what you find in Martinique. The attitude seems to be that they'll get the best deal without spending anything, then the suckers have already paid. Being one of those suckers feels awful.

We loved this beautiful, pleasant house, even though friends we were staying with gave it a terrible review. When we first spoke with the manager, he was friendly, very accommodating, and quick to make the small changes we mentioned. We avoid air conditioning for environmental reasons, and houses in Martinique, Casalane especially, are so well ventilated that we don't think it's necessary. Opinions clearly differ from one person to another. Thanks again to Thierry for taking such great care of us during those 12 days.

The house is very comfortable, with excellent amenities and a magnificent view. It's superb, and I highly recommend it.
