The breakfast setup was awkward and surprisingly unprofessional. It’s served in a tiny room with tiny tables, but the trays are oversized, so guests end up eating on couches. The rooms were another big disappointment. We booked directly on the hotel website three months ahead, choosing that over Booking.com or another third-party site to support the business, yet our group seemed to get some of the worst rooms. Of the hotel’s 31 rooms, only 6 lack air conditioning, and we were given 4 of those. The heat made us feel genuinely unwell, so we had to leave the windows open all night. At 6:30 a.m. the garbage truck servicing the bins outside woke us, and dozens of small flies got into the rooms and onto our pillows and bedding. Noise like that should be addressed if rooms are next to the collection area. It’s unacceptable for paying guests. Booking directly so far in advance should not have left us with inferior rooms. There’s more I could say, but the stay was a major disappointment. I hope this feedback leads to meaningful improvements. I can’t recommend the hotel, and I wouldn’t stay there again.

Our room at Hotel Flaubert had an amazing view, one of the highlights of our trip in Normandy. We stayed in the Master Sea Room, right by the beach, and everything was clean, tidy, and well cared for. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, and we felt very welcome. We also liked choosing exactly what we wanted for breakfast, which was brought to our room each morning. We loved the place and would highly recommend it.

Wish we could've stayed longer. The room was beautiful and the views were stunning, and Sandrine gave us such a lovely welcome. She even brought out stickers and colouring pencils for our toddler, which made the stay feel extra personal. It was magical.

One thing to keep in mind when booking Hotel Flaubert: being by the beach doesn’t mean every room has a sea view, so check that beforehand. The morning service also felt uneven. We heard a few passive-aggressive remarks from staff about breakfast arrangements, and it seemed the in-room-only option was causing tension because there’s no breakfast room. During the day, though, the staff were warm and welcoming. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had a modern touch. The location is excellent, just steps from the beach and right in the heart of Trouville, with shops, restaurants, and the seafront close by. It’s a solid pick for cleanliness and location, though the service and amenities may not suit everyone’s expectations.
