Best Western Premier Hotel de la Poste & Spa

This was my second stay, and the family suite on the top floor was perfect. The hotel is in a great location, the staff are great, and the breakfast is one of the best.

We’ve stayed here before, but this will probably be our last visit. We arrived after 15:00 h and our room still wasn’t ready. Eventually they offered us the last room, at the end of a very long corridor. We had a lot of luggage and asked for something closer to the elevator, but the only other room available was tiny, so we accepted the first one. It was cold outside and there was no heat in most of the hotel. The bathroom heating worked, but the rest didn’t. The corridors felt as cold as outdoors, and the bar and breakfast room were cold too. I understand they want to save money, but the email saying they were committed to reducing energy and water use came across as rude. Keeping guests in the cold is a crime, and I don’t want to get sick. At the very least, they should state this policy on their website so people can plan their trip accordingly. The cost cutting showed at breakfast as well: there were no plates available, as if they wanted us to eat everything off the same plate so there’d be less washing up. Sugar came from a shared container rather than individual packets, and the jam was cheap and very poor quality.

The breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had in a hotel. Lovely staff too, and the hotel itself was wonderful. Superb.

The breakfast service and range of delicacies were exceptional, and we loved watching the street through the window as we started the day. Our room was a little dark, though that’s understandable in a historic building in such a central spot, where natural light can be hard to come by. The location in Troyes is perfect, within walking distance of the sights and the beautiful old medieval city. Such a treasure!
