Our room was great to have for wine and a few supermarket bits, with its microwave and little kitchen. There’s also a hot tub you can use for a few extra euros. The continental breakfast was lovely, and the property itself is beautiful, about a 10-minute walk from the main town. Private secure parking is at the back. The one drawback in our room was that the toilet had no door or ceiling, though I don’t know if all the rooms are like that. For a stay in Troyes, it would be hard to beat for the price.

We woke early because of all the traffic noise, and the room itself was a big disappointment. Worse, the owners charged us twice on our credit card for the same night. We proved to the credit card company that we had stayed only one night, but the owners kept denying it even after I sent a printout showing both charges. We got the money back only through the card company. I found them unreliable. Check your card charges for weeks afterward, and keep your receipts and other records for a long time!

The place is beautiful, pleasant, convenient, and well kept. The open toilets are an unimpressive bit of modernity. Also, don’t try saving any breakfast juice or cheese, even partly eaten, because they’ll clear it from your fridge. That felt cheap and cheesy. Otherwise...

Everything else was perfect, and the room service breakfast was excellent. Just two small things: there was a toilet smell at reception, and they had blankets instead of duvets.

The gardens are lovely to sit in, and the breakfast was great. It’s a beautifully decorated period house, with clean, very comfortable rooms. The only drawback is the lack of privacy around the toilets, which may bother people who are sensitive to that.
